A series in progress with more to come.
A lot of my inspiration comes from my experiences as a woman. These experiences both societal and physical coalesce to create landscapes that are rocky and mountainous, both barren as a desert and lush as forests, while also creating frozen arctics and deep valleys. All of these reflect the ever changing environments of our mind and bodies existing in our inner and outer selves.
I really enjoy working with a variety of mediums. With my diorama series, I start by painting a background, from there I draw and hand sculpt small anatomical parts using shrinkable plastic and colored pencils. I then build tiny objects like trees, grass, and rocks. The final pieces I set into my dioramas are figures that I sometimes modify.
"Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes".
