Artist Statement

A lot of my inspiration comes from my experiences as a woman. These experiences both societal and physical coalesce to create landscapes that are rocky and mountainous, both barren as a desert and lush as forests, while also creating frozen arctics and deep valleys. All of these reflect the ever changing environments of our mind and bodies existing in our inner and outer selves.

I really enjoy working with a variety of mediums. With my diorama series, I start with a drawing, small anatomical parts, on shrinkable plastic using colored pencils. From there I build tiny objects like trees, buildings, or even UFOS. Then create or modify figures and other components. The last step is painting a background on a canvas.
